Today we got up and headed to the internet bar across the street from our hotel to do some updates on the site. We met Dragon at about 11:45 for lunch in the cafeteria and headed into the city to see the Big Goose Pagoda. The area around the Pagoda is beautiful, very clean and natural, somewhat of a rarity from our experiences in eastern/central China.

The Pagoda was built around 600 AD to house Buddhist scriptures gathered by Xuan Zang, a Chinese Monk, while traveling in India. Xuan proceeded to translate these scriptures into Chinese. Dragon was very excited to return to the Pagoda in the evening to see the fountains that are set to music. Of course we were also excited as well, and upon our arrival we learned that the last performance ended 10 minutes ago. Shoot!!!!!!! It was still great to see the Pagoda at night. Poems from famous Chinese scholars adorn the lampposts lining the stone paths which surround the Pagoda and add to the unique environment of this area. Unfortunately, we will leave Xi’an tomorrow, but we are excited to see Chengdu….
