Today was unbelievable. After waking up we looked outside to see a
complete blue sky, it's been a while. We knew that today would be an
easier day in terms of miles completed, but the vertical distance was
going to be fun. Our starting elevation was 4495 feet (1370 meters)
and today's goal of reaching the city of Kangding was at a elevation
of 8464 feet (2580 meters).
This is about a 4000 (3970) foot
elevation gain, kind of exciting! The valley we road up was amazing
and we decided to try a capture a bit it in Journey's Way titled
Zhedou River 10-15-06. As far the riding, it was great and we feel
really good so far. The elevation is not very high so the altitude is
not an issue yet. Kangding is a very dynamic town filled with a great
mixture of Tibetan and Chinese people. The Zhedou River runs directly
through the town splitting it in two. Tomorrow is our first time over
4000 meters on a bicycle. The pass is over 14,000 feet (over 4000
meters) so we are very excited to see what tomorrow will bring…
