Our plan of cycling without stopping ended pretty quickly when Keith got his first flat tire after about 20 minutes on the bikes. As the day continued, we proceeded to get 5 flat tires...can you stand it? We weren't happy. The day was extremely tense. We finally made it to Raikot Bridge, signaling the end of the Chilas Valley and we honestly felt like a 100 pound weight was lifted off our shoulders.
We are now in the moderate region of the Northern Areas and extremely happy about it. Tonight was actually really nice, as we slept at the police post on the far side of Raikot Bridge. The police were wonderful, as we have found nearly all the police we have met in Pakistan. They fed us dinner and breakfast and spent nearly two hours helping us patch all of our flat tires from the day's ride. Tomorrow we will cycle to Gilgit, the capital of the Northern Area. A fairly good sized city, we will most likely stay here a couple of days to do some computer/internet work before heading north into the Hunza Valley.
