CZECH REPUBLIC
Travel

Total kilometers biked: 712 km
Days biked: 6 days
Road conditions: sealed and smooth
Weather: hot, dry and sunny; we heard on the news it was the hottest it had been in the Czech Republic in 100 years; one incredible thunderstorm one evening when we were sleeping out in a field, rain came across field sideways
Food & Water:
Food: all types easily accessible
Water: available, but not all stores would fill water bottles, we bought some bottled water and iced tea, since we had to drink so many fluids because of the heat
Sleeping:
Camping in wild: 66% of time
Campgrounds: 1 night in a college dorm in Brno when Meredith’s derailer broke, 1 night in a campground outside of Prague
Alternate transportation: took subway from Prague to campground and back, we took our entire bike/trailer system right down the escalator and on the train with minimal problems
Maps Used: Marco Polo, 1:300,000 map bought from a gas station
Highlights: Cities are not our favorite places, but Prague was incredible. We visited cathedrals and castles as we biked all around the city. Excellent campground outside of Prague called Sunnycamp. When Meredith’s derailer broke, an incredible college student took us to dorms where we could sleep for the night.
Experiences: Meredith’s derailer broke on the way out of Brno – great bike shop fixed it even though they were closed for repairs that day; bike shop outside of Prague also fixed Meredith’s bottom bracket for the 2nd time.
